Kenai Fjords National Park

Kenai Fjords is the reason most people go to Seward.  The park, which extends far enough south to abut Kackemak Bay State Park outside Homer, is most easily reached from Seward.  All that separates town and park are a couple of 5,000-foot mountains.
Kenai Fjords are dominated by the Harding Icefield, one of the largest icefields in North America, from which 23 named glaciers flow.  The Icefield is approximately 35 by 20 miles, and until the early 1900s, it was thought to be one huge ice system.
The fjords themselves are an excellect place for wildlife watchers  More than 30 species of seabirds are seen in the area, including puffins, and the waters are full of marine mammals.
You can visit by kayak or charter boat.  We cruised 7.5 hours on Glacier Voyager with a buffet lunch of salmon, prime rib and our own park ranger to answer all our questions and to narrate our trip.
Our Major Marine Charter ran out of Resurrection Bay around Aialik Cape in the Gulf of Mexico and into Aialik Bay.  Aialik Bay has three major glaciers to see.
We shared the waters with Sea otters, Steller sea lions, Dall porposises and Orca and Humpback whales.
We cruised through spectacular scenery.........Have no idea as to the temperature but the wind was blowing and we were bundled up but forgot our gloves.....Hope our pictures tell the story....
