Kenai to Seward Alaska

Day 74.....Seward Alaska is our next stop....we have enjoyed exploring the Sterling Highway....  

Captain had to look and visit


Kenai River and 35 mph roads around Cooper Landing


Kenai Lake is 24-miles long at an elevation of 436 feet


You feel like you are in the mountain @ 10 degrees cooler


Good-by Sterling Hwy and Hello Seward Hwy


Average temperature in July is 62 degrees

Average rainfall in July is 1.87 inches


But in September average rainfall is 6.86 inches


Average snowfall is 80 inches


Again still in blue jeans and sweatshirts

Seward has 2 cruise ships today...lots of shoppers


The harbor is certified as an Alaskan Clean Harbor


Camping on Resurrection Bay.....mostly "dry" but a few with 30Amp






Seward is one of the top five ports in Alaska for commercial fisheries

Narrow road...hugs the shore of Resurrection Bay on its way to Lowell Point


Seward...known as the "Gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park"


Captain says....this road is the worst yet

Resurrection Bay...a year-round ice-free harbor surrounded by mountains


Exit Glacier Road....Road to The Blue Ice


Exit Glacier is 2 miles long and descends 3,500 feet from the Harding Icefield


4.1-mile hike, one way, strenuous uphill climb...what do you think!!!
