Magligne Lake

Once we were settled at Whistler's Provincial Park we took a road trip to Magligne Lake.  The lake is considered to be one of the most scenic spots in the Canadian Rockies at 14 miles long.  Boat cruises are available as well as canoe rentals.  Miss Saddi was ready to go!!!!

 Paved roads beautiful views

 Medicine Lake

Medicine Lake is not your average mountain lake.  In summer, glacier meltwater floods the lake, sometimes overflowing it.  BUT in fall and winter, the lake disappears with no visible channel draining the lake.  It's unclear where the water goes...a veritable disappearing lake phenomenon.....
In fact, the lake drains from the bottom like a bathtub.

 Bighorn Sheep

Maligna Lake stretches to the meltwater channels of Coronet Glacier

 It is beautiful

Rent a canoe and paddle the 14 miles

Or take a 90 minute boat ride

Snow capped mountains surround the lake

Capt Rik could get a job

Saddi and I could watch all day long

 Caribou Crossing

 The mountain range is awesome

Medicine Lake once again....it's still there

Major burn...you can still smell the smoke

Something to see and something to make you think

Jasper National Park has been quite a trip

We have traveled 2,380 miles since leaving Southern Illinois.  The Canadian Rockies are beautiful.  We will be back on our way home next fall.  We are ready to head for Alaska.
