We spent two extra days in Haines to see what was wrong with a rear tire that had smoked coming down Chilkat Pass. And the mechanic couldn't see us until 8 AM Monday morning.....results of his findings.....broken seal on the shaft was leaking oil and the friction caused the oil to smoke.....he was able to replace the seal and 3 1/2 hours later we were down the road....Yea!!!!!

A view of Kluane National Park
Destruction Bay is a small community located on the Alaska Highway near the shores of Kluane Lake. It was one of several camps built to supply the army during the construction of the Alaska Highway. It got its name when an extremely violent storm destroyed buildings and much of the highway construction material that was stored here. There are about 40 year-round residents. That's your history lesson for what it is worth.
We are on Day 30 of our Alaska Adventure and have traveled 4,057 miles.....
