Traveled Hwy-85 from Spearfish to Belle Fouche and Hwy-212 which was the trail of the Great Sioux War from its beginning with the discovery of gold in the Black Hills to its climax at the Little Bighorn Battlefield where the Plains Indians won their greatest victory in soundly defeating George H Custer and his 7th Cavalry.
Connected with I-90 to Billing MT where we headed north on Hwy-3 to Hwy-12 into White Sulphur Springs to visit AB and Betty.
Billings with the Bear Tooth Mountains
Beautiful Day
Summer has not arrived in the Bear Tooth Mountains
We stayed on Hwy-12 from White Sulphur Springs to Missoula experiencing rain and fog. Crossed McDonald Pass (6362 feet) which is the Continental Divide. Temperature 39 degrees on top. We decided to connect with I-90 instead of going over Route 200. We were afraid the rain would turn into sleet.
Turned north at Missoula on Hwy-93 headed to Kalispell to find a ACE Hardware

Drove the East Shore
At Kalispell we decided to drive to Glacier National Park. We knew Logan Pass (6,646 feet) and Going-To-The-Sun Road would be closed due to snow. But we figured we could visit McDonald Lake Lodge. Well, Glacier had 4 inches of rain earlier and the road was washed out. We had to turn around.
